Ms. Abigail "Diva" Irby

Ms. Abigail "Diva" Irby, 62, of Peoria, IL passed away at 10:24 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family. Abigail was born on April 4, 1962 in Robinsonville, MS. She was the sixth child born to Joe and Carrie Mae (Jackson) Irby. Abigail worked as a Fiscal Technician for the City Treasurer of Peoria. She formerly worked as an administrative assistant at Common Place, a loan officer at Southside Bank and an accounts receivables processor at Federal Reserve Bank. Abigail was the Diva of the family with a smile that lit up the room when she entered. Abigail was loving and caring. She was nonconfrontational. She was very intelligent and believed knowledge was power. Abigail had great belief in God and was a faithful member of Sovereign Grace M.B., Church where she served as a mother of the church and on the trustee board. Abigail’s favorite words were “I trust God” whatever the situation; she stood on her faith in God. Abigail loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Abigail leaves to cherish her precious memory her mother, Carrie Mae Irby of Peoria, IL; one son, Joshua Irby of Peoria, IL; two daughters, Ja’Shawnda (Rev. Terrence, Sr.) Dunigan of Peoria, IL and Yanni Profit of Wheeling, IL; six brothers, Kent (Alisha) Irby, Craig (Patricia) Irby, Mark Irby, Montgomery Irby and Anthony Gibson all of Peoria, IL and Michael (Patricia) Manson of Chicago Heights, IL; eight sisters, Joe Ann Jones, Catha Irby, Diana O’Conner, Gloria (Jerry) Dixon, Sharon (Tracy) Murdock, Joenickle Irby, and aunt/sister Barbara Bryant all of Peoria, IL, Melody (Porter) Hulett of Springfield, IL, and Ieisha (Antoine) Davis of Scottsdale, AZ; stepsister, Geraldine Martin of Peoria, IL; twelve grandchildren, Maquai Stewart, Kambria Irby, Kariah Woodard, Joshai Irby, Mikaele James, Da’Jhae James, Amoni Irby Jae’Mel Shipp, Maurianna Adkinson-Irby, Jae’Mez Still, Logan McLauren, Noah Tucker, and Taraji Dunigan; two great grandchildren, Zimora James and Javari Irby and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her. She is preceded in death by her father; maternal and paternal grandparents; one son, James Irby, Sr.; four grandchildren, James Anthony Irby Jr., Jmar Irby, Na’Kylah Davis, and Terrence Dunigan Jr., and one infant brother, Larry Irby. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Mt. Zion M.B. Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 9:00 am. The Host Pastor is Rev. Dr. Matthew Mitchell. Pastor Alvin Riley, Sr. of Sovereign Grace M.B. Church, will officiate. Abigail will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
