Mother Ardell "Sally" Green

Mother Ardell Green, 101, of Peoria, IL transitioned to her heavenly home, Friday, May 1, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Ardell the 2nd of nine children born to Tom and Isola (Howard) Parker in Lexington, TN was born on August 15, 1918. She moved to Peoria, IL from Lexington, TN in 1952. Ardell met and married the love of her life, Harvey Paul Green in 1953. They were married over 39 years before his passing in 1989. Mother Green was a homemaker and a gracious host to all who visited. She had amazing life stories that everyone listening would break out in laughter and hold on to her every word…never getting enough of her stories. Mother Green was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church for over 70 years. She served in many capacities over the years such as the Missionary, Usher board, Hospitality committee and Women United. Mother Green faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study, Prayer and Missionary meetings over the years. She was the oldest member of Zion Baptist Church. Mother Green leaves to cherish her most precious memories; her daughter, Carlean (Robert) Hale and her caregivers; granddaughter, Bronetta (Tom) Jones and Thomas “TJ”(Clarice) Jones her great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law; Lonzierean Parker; three other grandchildren, Wynetta Williams, Marguerita Williams and Natasha Williams; and a host of other great and great-great grandchildren; two god-sons, Darwin Parker and George Shaw; other relatives, friends and her beloved Zionites who all adored Mother Green. She is also preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Parker; her siblings, D.L. Parker, John Allen Parker, Avella Thomas, Clara Bomer, Bessie Parker, Tommy Leroy Parker and Joe Wheeler Parker. A Private Funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Zion Baptist Church with a two-hour visitation prior to the service at 9 am. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and limits of 10 people at a time is mandated. Pastor Samuel Duren will officiate. Burial will be at Historic Springdale Cemetery.
