Mrs. Barbara Jean Pate

Mrs. Barbara Jean Pate, 79, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:01 am on Monday, July 11, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born on January 12, 1937, in Peoria to Louis and Bernadine (Moody) Rogan. She married Phillip Pate, he passed on March 1, 1990. Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memory, six sons, Philip (Tonya) Pate of Davenport, IA; Ronald (Patricia) Pate of Stockton, CA; Rodney (Phyllis) Farlow of Peoria; Victor Lilly of Peoria; Charles (Terri) Walker of Little Rock, AR; Kevin Joiner of Peoria; six daughters, Valerie (William) Smith of Beaverville, IL; Gloria Hayes of Pulaski, IL; Lisa (Roger) Travis of Peoria; Agnes Calbert of Mounds, IL; Tammey Pate of Peoria; Annette “Peaches” (Clifford) Gullett of Peoria; three brothers, Donald Rogan of Peoria; Erwin David Kingcade of Peoria; Dean (Alice) Rogan of Pulaski, IL; four sisters, E. Joann (John) Walton of Peoria; Marlene Ross of Peoria; Donna Rogan-Nelson of Peoria;, Tina Rogan of Peoria; 64 grandchildren, 153 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a very special grandson, Kourtney Walker whom she raised and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends of B’nai Brith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Yolanda Walker, four grandchildren, one sister, three brothers. Barbara attended the area schools. She was a homemaker. Barbara was a sweet, lovable and caring person, who met no strangers. She was always doing for her grandchildren and others. She loved to fish, and was an excellent cook and coordinator of family functions. She had a passion for creating art and teaching children in Sunday school. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Later in life, she truly accepted the Lord in her life and shared her love of Jesus to all of her children, family and friends. She later was a volunteer of the PCCEO Foster Grandparent program for four years. Barbara was a member of St. Paul Baptist church and a former member of Greater City of Refuge Worship Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Paul Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard will officiate.
