Ms. Cecilia "C.C." Allure Jordan

Ms. Cecilia Allure Jordan, age 84 of Peoria, Illinois, passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Affectionately known as “C.C.”, Cecilia was the youngest child born to Ferdinand and Edna (Jordan) Jones on September 14, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois. During her adult life, Cecilia lived in France, England and, while in the U.S., in Michigan, Texas and Illinois. Cecilia retired from Caterpillar, Inc., after 26 years of service holding roles as an administrative, graphic and marketing assistant. Upon retirement, she became a travel agent with Cook Travel and worked for many years with CityLift and Lexus of Peoria. In 2014, Cecilia joined the team at Hampton Inn East Peoria as a Guest Service Agent, where she was nominated several times for the “Stars of the Industry Award” and received the “Employee of the Year” award for the state of Illinois. At the age of 70, Cecilia entered Ashford University, earning her Associate’s with honors and being recognized on the Dean’s List. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society on the basis of her exceptional academic achievement. Many will remember Cecilia as woman of inspiring faith and as a long-standing member of Ward Chapel A.M.E., where she was a devoted Steward, a member of the Missionary Board and choir, and creator of the commemorative souvenir ad book for Ward Chapel’s 176th Church Anniversary celebration. Cecilia enjoyed community theater and loved the arts. She participated in 12 Peoria Player theater productions and sang in the “Jones Sisters” singing trio for 65 years with the late Joyce (Jones) Jackson and the late Savon (Jones) Ahlman. Cecilia was a charter member of the Heritage Ensemble Chorus and performed with the Chorus in 2004 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Greatly beloved by her family, Cecilia was a mother of four children: Craig (Colleen) Powell of Peoria Illinois; Dana L. Morris of Columbia, Maryland; Brian C. (Eleni) Morris of Thessaloniki, Greece, and Alec R. (Margot) Morris of Peoria, Illinois. She was a loving grandmother of Brad Powell of Williamsburg, Virginia; Christian Powell and Anthony Powell of Peoria, Illinois; and Daelen Morris and Aaron Morris, both of St. Louis, Missouri. Cecilia also was a great-grandmother of four: Cheyenne Walters Powell of Peoria, Illinois; Micah Powell of Athens, Illinois; and Keon Quezada and Anaya Powell, both of Tucson, Arizona. Cecilia leaves behind a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ferdinand Jones, Jr., Savon Ahlman, and Joyce Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church, with a reflection period one-half hour prior to the beginning of the service.
