Ms. Eloise Richmond

Ms. Eloise Richmond, 84, of Peoria, IL, gained her wings at 8:47 am on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Eloise was born on September 12, 1938 in Fernwood, MS to Athus and Ellen (Smith) McCullum. She was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church in Fernwood, MS. Eloise graduated at the top of her class from Fernwood High School in Fernwood, MS. She went on to nursing school and worked as a nurse in her hometown. After relocating to Peoria, IL Eloise worked at Long John’s Barbeque as a cook. She was a very active person. Eloise loved to crochet, solve crossword puzzles, watch game shows and soap operas. Eloise was a sports fan. She especially enjoyed tennis and watching her favorite players, Venus and Serena. She was also an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls Basketball and Chicago Bears Football teams. Eloise was a past member of New Morning Star M.B. Church. She later became a Charter member of Higher Dimensions Praise & Worship Church. Eloise leaves to cherish her most precious memory her son, Avery Hightower; her daughter, Karen (Donald) Smith; both of Peoria, IL; two brothers, Gerald (Lee) McCullum of Pacifica, CA and John McCullum of Peoria, IL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Samuel Vincent Richmond; one daughter, Sandra McCullum; siblings, Nettie Hightower, Emma Patterson, Retha Whitley, King McCullum, James McCullum, Leslie Mae McCullum-King, Charles “AC” McCullum, Doris McCullum, Flossie Mae McCullum and Wallace McCullum. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Higher Dimension Praise & Worship Church with a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Pastor Harreld Webster, Jr., will bring forth the eulogy and Pastor Marvin Hightower will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
