Mr. Eric Kevin Ashford

Eric “E Rock” Kevin Ashford, 55, formerly of Peoria, IL, was called home to the Lord on April 16, 2015 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Eric was born on October 24, 1959 in Peoria, Illinois to Peter Ashford, Sr. and Limmie (Randle) Ashford. Prior to his migration to Atlanta, Eric graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1978 and grew up at the Carver Center. After moving to Atlanta in 1985, Eric worked as a technician in the construction industry and supervised numerous projects. His last 10 years were spent as a Lead Technician at Georgia State University where he contributed to major infrastructure renovations. Eric had a pure thirst for life. He enjoyed dancing and choreography, listening to music and spending time with family. He also played the bass guitar. Eric was actively involved with the Wednesday WindDown Line Dancers and loved every minute of it. Eric had a strong relationship with God and was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church. Eric was loved by many. He was a true gift from God and is now an Angel in Heaven. Eric touched so many lives with his high energy, big heart and fun-loving spirit. He was truly a special person and his legacy will live on forever. Eric is survived by his three children, Erica Trapps of Peoria, IL, Eric Blair Ashford of Atlanta, GA and Jimmy Burnside of Peoria, IL; 2 sisters: Phyllis (Bob) Minter, Joyce Ashford both of Atlanta, GA; 6 brothers: Peter Ashford, Christopher Ashford, Michael (Donna) Ashford, Ricco Ashford all of Atlanta, GA: Dwayne (Tonya) Ashford of Sacramento, CA and Nicholas (Tammy) Ashford of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceeded in death by his parents, sister, Portia Proctor and niece, Danielle Ashford. The viewing will be held at New Life Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by The Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. The Service will be followed by the burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349.
