Mr. Herman Lee Johnson

Mr. Herman Lee Johnson, 75, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 8:42 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Herman "Homer Lee" was born on February 6, 1950 in York, AL to Annie Mae (Johnson) Lobdell and Nathaniel Drummond. Herman was a retired Operating Engineer recently celebrating 50 years membership with Local 649. He owned his own heavy equipment operator business; responsible for some of the roadways in Peoria. Herman’s smile could brighten any room. He was very level headed and was the peace maker of the family. The family affectionately referred to him as Anna Mae’s baby. Herman was a crooner who loved singing and dancing. He also loved the outdoors and doing yard work. He had a heart of gold and cared deeply for his family and friends. Herman leaves to cherish his most precious memories, life partner, Kirsten Vivian of Peoria, IL; five sons, Jose Kyles of San Antonio, TX, Maurice (Michelle) Moss, Shondre Johnson, Andre Johnson and Camren Johnson all of Peoria, IL; three daughters, Christine (Patrick) Roberts of McDonough, GA, Tanisha Johnson of Peoria, IL and Caris Johnson of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, James (Cheryl) Johnson of Cleveland, OH, Johnny Lee Drummond of York, AL; four sisters, Jessie (Willie) Eades, Annie Lee Drummond, Delores Drummond Clark all of York, AL and Geraldine McCoy of Livingston, AL; 26 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents; step father, Rev George "Pop" Lobdell; ten brothers: Odell Johnson, JB Johnson, Thomas "Hannah" Johnson, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Arthur Lee Drummond, Jimmy Drummond, Willie Drummond, Fred Drummond, Jeremiah Drummond and Eddie Drummond; nine sisters: Ruth Fox, Willie Mae Terrell, Dorothy Griffin, Bernice Burney, Zola McLeod, Rosie Lee Pearson, Ethel Douglas, Mary Hinton and Daisy Hill. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Paul Peoria Church with a visitation prior at 9 am. Rev. Dr. Deveraux Hubbard, Senior Pastor will officiate.
