Pastor Janice Marie Collins-Green

Rev. Janice Marie Collins-Green, 67 of Peoria Heights, IL transitioned to her heavenly home at 12:50 pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Janice was born on September 20, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Cloatee Collins and James Wandick. Janice moved to Peoria in 1987 for a change of pace from Chicago, IL. She met and married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Green, Jr. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2011 after many years of love and devotion. Janice preached at churches around the community near and far. She would bring the word by walking into any church, kicking off her shoes and praising the Lord; for that reason, she was known as the “barefoot preacher. Janice was blessed to be the founder and Pastor of her own church, Higher Praise Ministries since 2009. Janice was a phenomenal woman. She loved praising the Lord! She always had a powerful message to her church congregation and her family. She was a prayer warrior, praying for others as well as her family. Janice loved everyone unconditionally. She believed in dressing well. She was a fashionista full of style and grace. She loved to take care of her family and children. Her nickname was “Lilma” and was known to be the “Keeper of the family”. She loved thrifting and garage sales. Janice also loved to dance and play spades. Janice leaves to cherish her precious memory, two sons, Wesley Collins and Terone Charmers; two daughters, Theresa Collins and Jamika Collins; God blessed Janice with four bonus children whom she adored, Takiska Burks, Shuntaires Burks, Laila Burks and Da’Kai Harper all of Peoria, IL; two brothers, James Collins of Pontiac, IL and Jose (Lana) Collins of Kankakee, IL; two sisters, Lillian (Bruce) Spencer of Kankakee, IL and Jamie Bolton of Chicago, IL; eighteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert “Bob” Green, Jr.; one daughter, Shanta Collins; two sisters, Denise Mays and Cloatia Collins. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Sovereign Grace M.B. Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 9 am. Pastor Alvin Riley, Sr. is the host pastor.
