Mrs. Lenora Undeen Cowan

Mrs. Lenora Undeen Cowan, 89, of Galesburg, IL, passed away at 9:31 am on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Lenora was born on May 23, 1932 in Conway, AR to William and Teadie (Stephens) Mattison. She married the love of her life, Frederick Roy Cowan, Sr. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Lenora formerly worked at Gale Manufacturing as a laborer and at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hospitality. Lenora leaves to cherish her most precious memory her loving and devoted husband, Frederick Roy Cowan, Sr., of Galesburg, IL; one son, Frederick Cornelius Cowan, Jr., of Galesburg, IL; one daughter, Barbara Anne (Lawrence “Larry”) Gayles of Peoria, IL; two sisters, her twin, Elnora Aileen Cowan of Moreno Valley, CA and Ana Melveta Richard of Texas; 7 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-greatgrandchildren; and of host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Rosal Alexander Mattison, William Barrington Mattison, Columbus Edward Mattison; three sisters, Eddie Carline Nathaniel, Artie Bernice Wesley and Laura Ella Jones. Private funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Bethesda M.B. Church, 210 S. Whitesboro St., Galesburg, IL 61401 with a visitation at 11 am. Pastor Toby Carlos will officiate. Lenora will be laid to rest at East Linwood Cemetery, 1854 W. Main St., Galesburg, IL 61401. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
