Letisha “Tish” Yvette Young, 44, of Peoria, IL transitioned from her earthly home into the eternal presence of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 3:38 am at her parent’s home with family. Tish was born July 10, 1972 in Peoria, IL to William and Billy J. Young. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1978 at the young age of 6 years old. Tish was baptized by the late Rev. Calvin Hightower Sr. at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She was last a member of New Life Christian Church under the Pastoral covering of Bishop Harold Dawson Jr. Tish attended Peoria School District 150 schools graduating from Harrison Grade School in 1987 in the top ten of her eighth grade class. She was a 1990 graduate of Manual High School graduating in the top 20 percent of her class as a Sterling Merit award winner. She attended St. Ambrose University and later earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Robert Morris University. Despite fighting cancer while attending RMU, Tish made the dean’s list each quarter graduating with a 3.7 GPA as Cum Laude. For many years she operated her own licensed home daycare caring for most of the children in her family and many in the community. She last worked at Toy’s R Us as a Pricing Coordinator. She was also an excellent event planner and wedding coordinator. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, who she absolutely adored, her parents, William and Billy Young, of Peoria, IL; one son, Devyn J. Young, one daughter, Cheyenne Johnson, both of Peoria, IL; five sisters: Monisha (Marvin) Young-Washington of Peoria, IL; Lisa (Fred) Cox of Indianapolis, IN; Jackie (James) McGary of Greenville, MS, Jayetan Hayes of Indianapolis, IN; and Shantel Hayes-Kellum of Minneapolis, MN; Eight brothers: Ernest Young of Bloomington, IL; William Young III of Indianapolis, IN; Stevie (Ryan) Young of Superior, WI; Devon Young of Columbus, OH; Bobby Young; Christopher (Kia) Young; Latroy (Katherine) Young; and Michael (Toni) Young all of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are her maternal Grandmother Lucille Page and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at New Cornerstone Baptist Church with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Host Pastor, Rev. Dr. Mark A. McConnell, will officiate with the eulogy delivered by Bishop Harold Dawson Jr. of New Life Christian Church. Burial service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Peoria, IL on Monday, March 13, 2017. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
