Mrs. Lois Steen (Mack) Guyton

Mrs. Lois Steen (Mack) Guyton, 85, of Peoria, IL transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home at 5:07 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family. Lois was born on March 11, 1939 in Terry, MS to proud parents Isaac and Mary (Penn) Mack. Upon moving to Peoria, IL; she met the love of her life, Johnny B. Guyton. They married on Christmas Day, December 25, 1957 and to their blessed union six children were born. Lois worked for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring after many years of service as a shipping and receiving clerk. After retiring from Caterpillar, she became a caregiver for a few years. Lois was a beautiful woman of great faith and unconditional love for her family and friends. She was an excellent wife, mother, sister and friend. Her family highlights that Lois was the disciplinarian in the family and her skills were spot on in being the partner with the firm hand in helping raise their family. Lois was a culinary extraordinaire and taught all her children how to cook. She was a ceramics artist and the best baker ever! She enjoyed taking walks, traveling and going on cruises. Lois was a jewel! She had a laugh that brightened a room, warmed your heart and exemplified her beautiful sweet spirit when you heard it; she was just a joy to be around. Her favorite saying was “Oh my”. Lois loved her grand and great grandchildren. Lois was a faithful member of St. Paul Church where she was a member of the choir, Women of Courage Ministry and the Marriage Ministry. She and Johnny have been mentors to many families over the years. She will truly be missed! Lois leaves to cherish her most precious memories her loving and devoted husband for over 66 years, Johnny B. Guyton, of Peoria, IL; children, Johnny “Graylin” (Ronda) Guyton of Peoria, IL, Wanda Guyton Adkisson of Peoria, IL, Pamela (Michael) Guyton Young of Hayward, CA, Marnita (John) Guyton Williams of Mt. Juliet, TN, Mia Guyton of Peoria, IL and their foster daughter, Yolanda Riley of Peoria, IL; five brothers, Leroy (Winnie) Mack of Peoria, IL, Austin Mack of Peoria, IL, Charlie (Esther) Mack of Peoria, IL, Marvin (Gail) of Las Vegas, NV and Kenneth Mack of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Margaret Ann Allen of Peoria, IL, Geneva Mack of Peoria, IL and Carrie (Ron) Givens of Peoria, IL; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; caregiver, Demetria Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her St. Paul Church Family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Mary Mack; one daughter, Dinah Fay Guyton; one brother, Oscar Mack; two sisters, Lula Mae Peete and Jannie McCullum and sons-in-laws, Gary Adkisson and William Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 1, 2024 at St. Paul Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Rev. Dr. Deveraux Hubbard, Senior Pastor will officiate.
