Ms. Louise B. Cheatham

Louise Blanch Cheatham, 80, of Peoria, IL, moved from this earthly life to her eternal home on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 7:45 a.m. at Sharon Healthcare Elms in Peoria, IL. Louise was born September 30, 1934, in Tchula, MS to John Young, Sr. and Florence (Jones) Young Kelly. Louise accepted Christ at a very young age while still in Mississippi. She made Peoria her home in 1953. She was a previous member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church later uniting with Grace and Peace Lutheran Church. After serving in several ministries she then became a Lutheran Lay Minister. She was very active in church and she loved serving God in every way. Her mission fields were The Church Mouse, serving others and her favorite was giving away bibles and stuffed animals. Louise over the years was employed at St. Francis Hospital, Eagle Cleaners, Jim Maloof, State Hospital, Zellar Zone, Auxiliary Police and retiring from Methodist Hospital after more than thirty (30) years. She also was the proud owner operator of The Golden Chateau Beauty Salon. Louise volunteered at Tri-County Urban League, Voter Registration and the Heart of Illinois Fair First Aide with Methodist Hospital. Louise is survived by two daughters, Rosie “Nana” Johnson and Carmen Stears both of Peoria, IL; one son, Jeffery Ferguson of Galesburg, IL; three sisters, Clara Mae Young, Elma (Murvin) Mathews, Geraldine (Edward) Jackson all of Peoria, IL; one brother, John Young, Jr. of Inkster MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Going ahead of her is her mother, father, 2 sons, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church, 7611 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61614, with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 10 am. Rev. O. Wayne Shelksohn will officiate. Louise will be laid to rest at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago, IL. Donations may be made in honor of Louise, to her church, Grace and Peace Lutheran Church. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
