Mrs. Mable G. Pickett

Mrs. Mable G. Pickett, 62, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 3:29 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Mable was born on August 31, 1951 in Overcup, AR to Pauline Wiley and Hosea Woodruff. She married Moses Pickett on May 20, 1978. Mable formerly worked as a receptionist. She found her gift in life as a homemaker; interior decorator and an event planner specializing in weddings. She loved crocheting and was an awesome cook. Mable was a faithful member of Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ for more than 35 years many of those years she served as receptionist, on the culinary committee and the choir. Mable leaves to cherish her most precious memories her devoted and loving husband for over 35 years, Moses Pickett of Peoria; her mother Pauline Laird of Augusta, AR; sons, James (Jennifer) Bright and Andre Pickett both of Peoria and Moses “Todd” Johnson of Springfield, IL; daughters, Denise Yvonne Bright of Nashville, TN, Molisa Pickett of E. St. Louis, IL, Maquilla Yvette Pickett and Myavia LeKeisha Pickett both of Peoria; four brothers, Edward Louis (Michelle) Roddy of Groveland,IL, Keith Laird and Arthur Laird of Augusta, AR and Andre (LaTonya)Woodruff of Ocoee, FL; eight sisters, Earnestine (Andrew) Taylor, Juanita Laird Brown, Brenda Faye Laird, Betty Lee (Donnell) Laird Brisco and Karen Laird all of Arkansas; Andrita (Patrick) White of Atlanta, GA, Patricia White and Regina Smith both of Tampa, FL; 8 grandchildren, Denishea Bright, Jaleel Yates, Jabrea Bright, Brittany Pickett, Aundrea Pickett, Mylarren Pickett, Jeremiah Bright and Mashen Pickett; her god-children, Patrick Usher and Henry Bolden, III; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ Family. She is preceded in death by her father, Hosea Woodruff; step-father, Walter Laird, Sr., and one brother, Walter Laird, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her beloved church with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 10 am. District Elder James Ware will officiate. Mable will be laid to rest at Springdale Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
