Ms. Maristean G. Woolfolk, 88, of Peoria, Illinois transitioned to her heavenly home at 8:27 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Maristean was born on April 9, 1934 in Madison, Illinois to Tommie and Valley (Buie) Patterson. Many years ago, Maristean was a proud SKIL employee where she learned to make tools. She had a strong disposition. Anything she set out to do she accomplished no matter the difficulty. She loved to play tunk, dance and in her later years enjoyed the art of painting. Maristean leaves to cherish her most precious memory her loving and devoted children, Zenobia Thomas, bonus son, Dannie Neal, and Finis Woolfolk all of Peoria, IL and LaShon (Sheane) Rutherford of Mesa, AZ, Valerie Patterson-Brooks of Peoria, IL; step daughter, Regina (Ishmail) Donelson of Cordova, TN; bonus daughter, Denise Walker of Chicago, IL; a dear and lifelong friend, Charlie Turner; siblings, James Patterson of Florence, MO and Angel Hans of Peoria, IL; 7 grandchildren including her caregiver, Maristeania “Boopsie” Neely, AJ (Jen) Thomas, Jr., Anthony (Mandi) Thomas, Robert Earl Hunter, Jr., Edmond Simmons, Robert McFall and Shameco Williams; Godson, Malyk Marizetts; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Anthony (Carol) Curtis; and a host of other nephews, nieces, relatives, friends who adored her. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Tommie Patterson, Jr., Earl Patterson and Deloris Wyatt; and a grandson, Levell Applewhite. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 12:00 noon. Host Pastor Alvin Riley, Sr. Dr. James Taylor, Senior Pastor of Restoration Life Church will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
