Mrs. Nonia Mae Eggleston

Mrs. Nonia Mae Eggleston, 95, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:48 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Mother Eggleston was born on June 22, 1929 in Ripley, TN to Louis, Sr. and Albine (Johnson) Foster. She married the love of her life John Eggleston in Ripley, TN. Mother Eggleston worked for Canteen Food Services at Caterpillar, Inc baking cookies. She also worked as a floor attendant at Bergner’s Department Store for years. Mother Eggleston loved gardening and flowers, especially red roses. Mother Eggleston was the epitome of a virtuous woman. Together she and John raised their children to be great stewards of the word of God. She loved her children as well as her grand, great and great-great, grandchildren. Mother Eggleston was a faithful and diligent member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as a former member of The Mission, the Calendar Tea Committee, an Usher and recent President of the Mothers Board. She was well known for her elegant attire and stylish hats. She especially enjoyed going to church conventions immaculately dressed with her friends and church family. Mother Eggleston leaves to cherish her most precious memory, two daughters, Evelyn Eggleston-Sturdivant and Diane Eggleston both of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Carolyn Rogers of Chicago, IL and Doris Lindsey of Toledo, OH; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, 29 great-great, grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, John Eggleston and Cleveland Eggleston; 1 daughter, Colleen Eggleston; 1 great-grandchild, Kali Brown; 3 brothers, Henry Newborn, Louis Foster, Jr. and Larry Foster; 5 sisters, Curtis Woodson, Rosie Jones, Brenda Duffie, Della Moore and Patricia Bostic-Foster. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Pastor Claude White, Jr. will officiate.
