Mr. Rolando “Ro” William Westbrook, Jr., 37, of Peoria, IL transitioned to his heavenly home at 4:30 AM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Ro was born on January 14, 1984 in Peoria, IL to Mamie L. Funches and Rolando “Butch” Westbrook, Sr. Ro was baptized at an early age at New Morning M.B. Church by Pastor Cleveland Thomas, Sr. He was educated in Peoria District 150 Schools. He attended Woodruff High School where he played basketball which was his life long passion. His all-time favorite basketball players were Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Ro was a jokester. His family and friends adored him. His friends say, Ro was one of the coolest dudes you will ever meet or come across. Every time you would see him, he would show some type of love. He was loving, caring and generous and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially his son. Ro will truly be missed. Ro leaves to cherish his most precious memories his loving mother, Mamie Funches of Peoria, IL; his son, Rolando William Westbrook, III of Peoria, IL; two brothers, Romorius “BJ” Westbrook of Decatur, AL, and Denarius Barnett of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Britney “Brinny” Westbrook and LaTosha Westbrook both of Peoria, IL; three nieces, Teairra, Aaliyah and Blake; one nephew, Cedric, Jr., his best friend, whom he considered his brother, Chris “Butter” Alexander and George Crane; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who loved Ro dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Rolando “Butch” Westbrook, Sr., one sister, Alexis Westbrook; maternal grandparents, Ruth & Luther “Sonny” Funches and his paternal grandmother, Flossie “Big” Westbrook. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at New Morning Star M.B. Church with a visitation at 9 am. The host Pastor is Rev. Cleveland Thomas, Sr. Minister Steffan Funchess will bring the eulogy. Ro will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
