Mr. Roosevelt Danny Dixon

Mr. Roosevelt Danny Dixon, age 85, passed away at 11:30 am on March 14, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital. Roosevelt also known as Danny, was born on April 28, 1931in Edwards, Mississippi to John, Sr. and Marie (Caston) Dixon. Danny married Alice Parker in 1964 he and they remained together for 62 years. Danny was one of 8 children born. He moved to Chicago where he attended high school and trade school. He worked at Getz Bros. Manufacturing Company and Commonwealth Edison before retiring and moving to Peoria in 2007. Danny was a charter member and trustee of Liberty Church of Peoria and Kingdom of Deliverance Baptist Church. Danny is survived by his wife, Alice Dixon; two sisters, Bertha Thompson and Martha Thompson; biological children, Brian Dixon, Gailya (Rev. Raymond) Watson, and Charnita Jones all of Peoria, IL; adopted children, Chevon Dixon and Amber (Nick) Stear; foster children, Heather Barrow, Delaree Medley, and Dominique Medley; grandchildren, Jasmine Roberts, Raymond (Jessica)Watson III, Daniel (Tyina)Watson, Christopher Watson, Brandon Watson, Brandi Watson and Heaven Mccann, great-grandchildren, Raymond Watson, IV, Michaela Watson and Maya Gant and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James Caston, John Dixon. Jr., Eddie Dixon and Willie Dixon; one sister, Mary (Dixon) Green and one foster daughter, Jessica Weston. Danny requested a celebration of life to be held in his honor as opposed to a traditional funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at 12 Noon on March 25, 2023 at Higher Dimensions Praise and Worship Church with a gathering prior at 11:30 am. Pastor Harold Webster will officiate and Pastor Raymond Watson, Jr. of Kingdom of Deliverance Baptist Church will bring forth the eulogy. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
