Mrs. Rose Marie Adams

Mrs. Rose Marie Adams, 74, formerly of Peoria, Illinois, departed this life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Rose was born January 25, 1946 to Solomon “TC” King and Mary Kelley in Drew, Mississippi. She moved to Peoria, Illinois for a short time before eventually planting roots in Chicago, Illinois. Rose accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Friendship Baptist Church. Rose later joined New Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in 2007, under the leadership of Pastor Cy Fields, where she served as a faithful member of the Usher Board and Missionary Society. Growing up in Chicago, Rose attended and graduated from Richard T. Crane High School. After graduation, Rose held several service industries jobs. Rose thrived the best while helping others. Her desire to help others led her to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Renaissance Nursing Home, where she worked faithfully for many years until she retired in December of 2007. On October 10, 2003, Rose married the love of her life, Seymour Adams. From this union, Rose and Seymour Adams adopted her grandchildren Courtney Haltom-Adams, Corda Haltom-Adams and Corrie Rockett. Rose loved her family, always glad to lend a helping hand. She loved getting together with family and enjoying everyone’s company. Family and friends would describe Rose as the glue that held the family together. Rose leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Seymour Adams, of which she will always be “Pumpkin”; two brothers, John King and Roma Lemon, two sisters, Essie Mae and Viola Lemon. Three children, Lenesta Haltom, Reginald Haltom and Derrick King. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a lifelong friend, Elizabeth Williams and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Solomon “TC” King, her mother, Mary Kelley, her step father, BW Lemon, siblings LJ King (brother), Cora Lee Smith (sister), Dollie Mae Postlewaite (sister), Dorothy Lee Baker (sister), Lena Irving (sister), Willard “Willa” King (brother), Pasty “Pat” King (sister), Sylvester Lemon (brother), John Wesley Lemon (brother), Ruby Booker (sister) and her lifelong friend, Idella “Mayruth” Cummings. A visitation will be held from 1 pm – 6 pm, Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the A. A. Rayner & Sons Funeral Home, 5911 W. Madison St., Chicago, IL 60644. A private funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at New Landmark M.B. Church, 2700 W. Wilcox St., Chicago, IL 60612. Pastor Cy Field will officiate. There will also be a private funeral service at 10 am on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Victory Christian Church, Peoria, IL with a 1-hour visitation beginning at 9 am. Pastor Charles “Chuck” Brown will officiate. Rose will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. A.A. Rayner & Sons Funeral Home, Chicago, IL has been entrusted with the Chicago, IL services.
