Mr. Thomas Earl Jones Sr.

Mr. Thomas Earl Jones, Sr., 72, transitioned from this life to his heavenly home at 10:55 am on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Thomas, affectionally known as Tom, was born on December 4, 1950 in Tunica, MS to Mattie Milburn and Gable Jones, Sr. He was a graduate at Rosa Fort High School in Tunica, MS. He moved to Peoria, IL where he met the love of his life, Bronetta Porter. They were married on January 8, 1983 in Peoria, IL. Tom formerly worked at Caterpillar, Inc., then went on to work 32 years at Interstate Brand Butternut Bakery as a baker retiring in 2011. Tom kept busy after retirement. He had his own lawncare business where he took great pride in the well-manicured yards he maintained. He was a faithful charter member of New Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as an usher, past president of the New Cornerstone Usher Ministry and the male chorus. Tom loved his family, friends and church. He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was a jokester that kept people laughing. Tom was a giver and had a servant’s heart. He loved to dance. Tom leaves to cherish his most precious memories his wife of 40 years, Bronetta Jones; his children, Tunga Gregory of Richland Hills, TX, Kimberly Jones and Nyteria (Detrich) Parrish both of Memphis TN, Che’Keira McClain of Atlanta, GA, Anja McClain of St. Louis, MO, Cheisa (Randle) Myles of Manhattan, KS and Thomas “TJ” (Clarice) Jones, Jr. of Peoria, IL; his siblings, Emma Huff of Chicago, IL, Dorothy Chrisian of Bolingbrook, IL, Delores Freeman of Chicago, IL, Linda Milburn of Peoria, IL, Brenda Milburn of Peoria, IL, Sandra Milburn of Chicago, IL, Rhonda Milburn of Chicago, IL, Tabatha Milburn of Peoria, IL, Henry Milburn of Memphis, TN, James (Rita) Jones, Georgette (Wayne) Minor, Grayling (Velandis) Jones, Joanne (Glen) Boyland, Patrick (Michelle) Jones, L. Rochelle (Frank) Gilmore, Clifford Jones, Angie (Tony) Hughlett and Tasha (Rahnmann) Slocum all of Memphis, TN; two dearly loved Godchildren, Ashley and Mylah Hightower; thirteen grandchildren, and host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terrance Jones; three brothers, Darrell Milburn, L. Gary Jones and Gable Jones, Jr. and one sister, Gloria Coffee. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 3, 2023 at New Cornerstone Baptist Church with a visitation one-hour prior at 10 am. Rev. Dr. Mark McConnell, Pastor will officiate.
