Yvette was born in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday, May 13, 1961, to the late Malvern & Dorothy (Stapleton) Lamon. After moving to Nashville, Yvette united with Seay-Hubbard United Methodist Church. Yvette served on many ministries. She served as Chair of the Communion Stewards, member of the Praise and Worship Choir, member of the Women’s Sunday School Class, served as Secretary of the United Methodist Women, helped cook for special occasions and so many other events. Yvette graduated from Woodruff High School in May 1979 in Peoria, Illinois. She received a degree from the University of Phoenix. Yvette retired from the Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Yvette’s favorite sports teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and the Pittsburg Steelers. She loved to shop and be stylish. Her favorite colors were gold, black and red. She also loved playing her pretend gambling games on her phone or computer and spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. Yvette loved to travel. She was the cool sister, cousin and auntie that listened to everyone without judgement. Yvette is preceded in death by her siblings, Marla Kelly and Theresa Parker; left to cherish her memories are her children, Stephan Gulley of Sarasota, FL and Chalandra Ferguson of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, Cherish Shinault, Khalia Nelson, Christopher Owens and Stephan Gulley, Jr.; devoted companion, James Ferguson of Smyrna, TN; sisters, (her twin) Yvonne Hancock of Cleveland, TX, Kimberly Adams of Roswell, GA and Cheryll Gordon of Peoria, IL; brothers, Michael Stapleton, Tim Lamon both of Missouri City, TX, Christopher Lamon of Youngsville, NC; nephew, Anthony Lamon of Peoria, IL; uncles, Donald Stapleton of Peoria, IL and Richard Stapleton of Dallas, TX; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Seay-Hubbard United Methodist Church, 1116 First Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37210. Pastor Keith Caldwell will officiate.
