Mr. Albert Jones, Sr., 90, transitioned from earth to his heavenly home, at 2:14 pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Albert was born in Desoto, MS on September 17, 1930 to the late parents, Melvin and Lillian (Brown) Jones. Albert married Betty Livingston in 1951. They celebrated 36 years of marriage and she preceded him in death in 1987. To their union five children were born, Albert, Jr., Linda, Cynthia, Randy and Annette. Albert later married Carol Smith and they were married 31 until her passing on January 9, 2020. Albert was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Paul Baptist Church and he also was faithful to assisting at The Carpenters House Food Pantry. Albert was an entrepreneur, property owner and a retiree of Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewing Company after many years of service. He was a proud member of Wilson Lodge #24 and loved his Masonic Lodge Family. Albert loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved baseball, traveling, music and playing the saxophone. He was known to ride around town in his 1988 White Lincoln Town Car. He had a sweet tooth for chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. He was also known for his great sense of humor and was respected by all who knew him. Albert leaves his family to treasure his love and most precious memories, from his children with his 1st wife, Betty, two sons, Albert (Algetha) Jones, Jr. of Bloomington, IL and Randy Jones of Peoria, IL; three daughters, Linda Weeks of Peoria, IL, Cynthia Jones of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Annette (Mark) Dismuke of Peoria, IL; four grandchildren, Orman Jones, Jermaine (Jeanette) Jones, Arnisha (Ronaldo) Garrett and Marquise (Ciara) Dismuke; nine great-grandchildren, Carrington (DeAnn) Weeks, Arionna, Artavia, Jayla, Andrese, Skylar, Marah, Marquise, Jr. and Oliva; two great great-grandchildren, Camden and Maxwell. His children with his 2nd wife, Carol; one son, Dennis Smith, Jr., and two daughters, Lynelle Smith and Marlene (Pastor Cedric) Shumate both of Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends who loved him. He is also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jesse Jones, Sr.; two sisters, Geneva Felder and Estella Haynes; one son -in-law, James Weeks; one grandson, Andre Weeks; three sons, Glen Smith, Kenneth Smith and Holland Smith. A private funeral service will be at 11 am on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Victory Christian Church, with an hour visitation beginning at 10 am. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard of St. Paul Baptist Church will bring words of comfort. Albert will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to 10 family members of the decedents, not including the staff. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
