    Mrs. Betty Naomi Welch

    November 11, 1930 - August 5, 2019

    Mrs. Betty Naomi Welch, age 88, of Peoria, Illinois passed away peacefully at 3:01 PM on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Peoria Heights, Ill. Betty was born on November 11, 1930 in Peoria, Ill to Allen Scott and Luewilla Grider, (Scott) Sprattling,but was raised with her step father, Willis Sprattling. Betty was United in marriage to Raymond Welch in 1955. Betty formerly worked at the State Hospital in Bartonville IL. She moved to California in 1982 and worked at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk, retiring in 1992. Betty was a graduate of Manual High School. For many years she was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, a Masonic appendant body. Betty was a member of a Bowling league where she bowled many “ 300” games. Betty traveled to Jamaica and other places in tournaments. She was a great cook and conversationist. Betty had a great since of humor, she had a special way of making you laugh. Betty loved teaching Sunday school where she was a long-time member Zion Baptist Church. Betty was raised by God loving parents, it was instilled in her the love of God and family. Betty was the oldest of her siblings. The bonds of their love for each other was grounded in the love of Christ. She was always thankful for the love of family. Jesus was her cornerstone. Betty loved sitting on her front porch, conversing with friends and anyone passing by. She was always inviting people to visit her church. Betty leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Darrell ( Marsha) Sprattling, Sr. of Peoria, Ill who were her caregivers, David (Sharon) Sprattling, Sr. of Lancaster, Ca and Nathan (Phyreda) Sprattling of Walnut Ca.; two sisters, Sally (Fred) Acklin of Cerritos, Ca.and Lynn Scott Pearson of Peoria, Ill and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, step father, husband and sister, Karen Scott. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 17,2019 at Zion Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Pastor Sam Duran will officiate. Betty will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences maybe made at SimonsMortuary.com.
