Carol K. Porter, 82, of Peoria, IL peacefully transitioned at 11:40 am on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital. Carol was born on August 31, 1934 in Chenoa, IL to Lester Leslie and Lucille Irene (Rich) Davis. Carol graduated from Cornell High School in Flanagan, IL. She married Thomas Vere Underwood. She later married James F. Porter. Both preceded her in death. Carol was a Certified Nurses Assistant at Methodist Hospital for over 30 years working on the Cardiac Floor. Her life’s focus was raising her children and caring for people. Her favorite past time was shopping, dining out and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Carol was an avid TV watcher. She loved watching the Bobby Jones Gospel show. She could watch the home shopping network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Carol was active at Senior World where she was given the nick name, Elizabeth Taylor and she even has her own personal chauffer, LaShann Tunks. Carol was loved by all and never met a stranger. Carol leaves to cherish her most precious memories two daughters, Crystal (Gary) Criss of The Colony, TX and Jamesetta Porter & (Earl Humes, Fiancé) of Peoria; three brothers, Doug Davis of Bloomington, IL, Brad (Shirley) Davis of Kissimmee, FL and Montelle Davis of South Carolina; one sister, Sonya Hughes of Gridley, IL; three grandchildren, Jamia S. (Jamal) Jowers, Geoffry B. (Zhaleh) Criss and Julian B. (Alleigh) Criss; three great grandchildren, Journey J. Jowers, Josiah D. Jowers and Ezra B. Criss; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and special neighbors, Beverly & Jerry Randall, who also adored Carol. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roger Davis. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Simons Mortuary Chapel with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Minister Gary Criss will officiate. Carol will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at simonsmortuary.com.
