Mr. Cleothor “Cleo” Ingram, 67 passed away Thursday, May 28, 2021 at 5:12 am at Generations Nursing Home, Peoria Heights, IL. Cleothor was born on March 29,1954 in Maud, Mississippi to Will and Lillian (Rayford) Ingram. He graduated from Richwood High School in 1974 and went off to college at SCC in Keokuk, Iowa where he played football. He began working for Peoria/Pekin Union Railroad from 1974-1975. He moved to New Orleans in 1976 to take on a job at Amtrak where he worked for 33 years and retired in 2009. Cleo loved being the life of the party and making friends wherever he went. He was no stranger to anyone. He made friends so fast that he took on the name “Dusty”, like dust in the wind. He was a great storyteller. He had stories for everything. He also loved to dance, cook, and entertain his friends with his southern hospitality. Cleo had the pleasure of sharing a daughter Ebony, whom he loved dearly, with his former wife, Annette (Taylor) Lewis. His daughter, Ebony Nicole (Junious, II) Ingram-Brown survives of Houston, TX. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Zaria Brown, Zerena Brown, and Junious Brown, III all of Houston, TX; five brothers, Willie C. (Lillie) Ingram, Little-Mac (Minnie) Ingram, David Lee (Charlene) Ingram and James Lee Ingram all of Peoria IL and LD (Jan) Ingram of Clearwater FL; 2 sisters, Ernestine Ingram and Virsie Lee Ingram both of Peoria, IL and his sister-in-law, Eloise Rayford of Peoria, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His former wife, Sheree Ingram of Louisiana, also survives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Lillian; five brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church with a visitation beginning prior at 9 am. Pastor Alvin Riley, Sr. will officiate. Cleo will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to no more than 50% of the capacity of the facility or less. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
