Mr. Dan "The Man" Nellum, 64, of Peoria, Illinois transitioned from this life to his heavenly home at 10:32 am, Friday, April 23, 2021 at his home. Dan was born on June 7, 1956 in Peoria, IL to proud parents Plume and Marie (Beck) Nellum. Dan was educated in the District 150 school system and was a track star when he attended Richwoods High School. Dan worked as a Heavy-duty Machine Operator for the Peoria County Highway department for many years, retiring in 2018. Dan was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a plumber, carpenter, mechanic, electrician, an expert in piping and a landscaper. He was a Grill Master and had a passion for antique cars. Dan leaves to cherish his most precious memories his loving and devoted children, Dantrell Pulley and Tasia Nellum both of Peoria, IL; a step daughter, Juanita Nellum of Peoria, IL; one brother, Roy Nellum of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Mary A. (Robert) McAfee and Marie Elizabeth Nellum both of Peoria, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; three brothers, Jeffrey Joe Beck, Stanley Alsup and Berley Nellum, Sr., two sisters, Brenette Nellum Jackson and Betty Lee Nellum Brown; two nieces, Ra’Daysha Stanton and Yakendria Nellum and two nephews, Clifton Brown, Sr., and Antonio Nellum, Jr. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Greater City of Refuge Worship Cathedral with a 10 am visitation Bishop Timothy Criss will officiate. Dan will be laid to rest at Historic Springdale Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to no more than 50% of the capacity of the or less. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 50% of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
