Mrs. Edna Louise Cockfield, 85, of Peoria, IL, transitioned from this life at 10:48 am on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Edna was born on February 28, 1936, in Mount Olive, North Carolina to the late John and Ellen (Bowden) Robinson. Edna love for singing in the church began at 5 years old, when she sang in the choir in several churches in the area where she lived. She also ushered and taught Sunday School. She also loved to cook, and lovingly prepared countless delicious meals for over 40 years for the Chi Omega Sorority on the Bradley University Campus in Peoria. The meals were so good to them that they encouraged her to compile them and placed them in a cookbook in her honor. Mom Cockfield, as she was called by many who knew and loved her, was united in holy matrimony in 1952 to the late Earl Kenon Jr. To this union, three children were born: Thomas E. Kenon I, who preceded her in death, Cheryl F. Kenon, and Drake B. Kenon. She later married Robert E. Cockfield Sr. in 1964. To this union, two sons were born: Robert E. Cockfield II and Arthur V. Cockfield. Sister Cockfield was an active member of Star Of Hope Church for many years under Bishop Johnson, singing in the choir, attending Sunday School, and participating in the women’s ministries. She later joined Cornerstone Gospel Church, serving in various capacities there as well. Sister Cockfield leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter Cheryl Kenon and son Drake Kenon, both of Peoria, Illinois, and sons Bishop-Elect Robert E. Cockfield II (Yolanda), and Arthur V. Cockfield, both of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves a large host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, neighbors, and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, the late Robert E. Cockfield Sr., her son Thomas E. Kenon I, two sisters, LueBertha Miller and Adell Ammons, and two brothers, Benny Smith Sr. and John Frank Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Star of Hope Full Gospel Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am.
