Mrs. Elizabeth Harris, 84, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully at 8:45 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria Heights, IL. Elizabeth was born on October 21, 1932 in Belzoni, MS to Pleasant and Bethenia (Woods) Hood Dixson. The family moved to Peoria when Elizabeth was very young and is where she accepted Christ. She married the love of her life, Roosevelt Harris, on December 24, 1962 in Peoria. Elizabeth had an entreprenurial spirit. She was owner operator of Elizabeth’s Beauty Shop from 1963 to 1998, Lisa’s Jewelry and Elizabeth’s Wig Boutique. Elizabeth loved bowling, playing cards and shopping. She loved for her husband to make her favorite meal of meatballs and spaghetti. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Elizabeth leaves to cherish her most precious memories her loving and devoted husband for over 55 years, Roosevelt Harris, of Peoria; one son, Dwayne Delano (Innes) Harris of Arlington Heights, IL; three daughters, Bethenia Faye Evens of Lithonia, GA, Brenda Joy Riley Pinckney of San Diego, CA and Crystal Lynnette Clark of Peoria; two brothers, Arthur Dixson of Aurora, Co and Anthony (Cindy) Dixson of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Delores M. Fork of California, Mamie L. Dixson of Utah and Sherry L. (James, Sr.) Hazel of Peoria; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who adored Elizabeth. She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Allen J. Hood. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Church of the Living God, Temple 130 with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9 am. Vice Chief Bishop Leroy Smith will officiate. Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
