Ms. Gaynell Davis, 62, after a short illness, went from labor to reward at 4:01 pm on Sunday December 12, 2021 at Kindred Hospital, Peoria, IL. Gaynell was born on January 31, 1959 in Greenville, MS to John and Annette (Watkins) Winfield. She was the second of seven children. Gaynell accepted Christ and baptized at an early age in Greenville, MS. She received her early education in Greenville, MS and after moving to Chicago, IL she graduated from Marshall High School. After graduating from high school, she began her working career at Sloan Valve in Franklin Park, IL and upon moving to Peoria, Gaynell worked for Peoria Plastics. After parting ways with Peoria Plastics, she began her journey of being a Childcare Provider. Gaynell was united in holy matrimony to Levi Davis in July, 1982 and to this union two sons were born, Antoine and DeShaun. She united with the City of Refuge Worship Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Timothy Criss where she faithfully served Christ until her health failed. Anyone in the family can always count on Gaynell calling and checking on them. Gaynell was known for watching her Lifetime movies and House Hunters. If you asked her what she was doing on any given day she would say “not a thang”. One of her favorite words was “whatever”. At family gatherings someone would always have to bring her something and it usually included her favorite thing, dessert. Then she would say “I gotta stop getting all these sweets”. In September 2003, Gaynell was blessed with a second chance at life; and was a heart transplant recipient. Gaynell’s love and memory will be treasured by her loving and devoted children Antoine (Candace), Deshaun; four brothers Cedrick (Deborah) Bolingbrook, IL, Terry (Arnetta) Bellwood, IL, Glenn (Annette) Chicago, IL, Andre (Toyia) Villa Park, IL, one sister Brenda Bellwood, IL. Nine grandchildren Alexis, Deonte, Janessa, Antoine, Damere, Deshaun, Adriana, Daniya, and Tristyn. A special friend Sandra Pigge. Along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
