Georgia Marshall-Henry, 78 of Peoria, IL. Passed away at her home Monday, March 14, 2022. Georgia was born on July 25, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois to William Marshall and Edner (Smith) Webb. Georgia's early education started when she attended Lincoln Grammar School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Peoria High in 1961. She enrolled at Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) in the fall of 1961. She later transferred to Bradley University, graduating in 1966. Georgia worked for the United States Postal Service before starting at Caterpillar, Inc., in Accounts Payable. She held various positions after entering management and retired in 2004 after completing 30 plus years of service. Georgia was a member of The Peoria Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and served as a secretary for Concerned African American Retirees (CAAR). Georgia married Terrance Henry, the love of her life who preceded her in death. Georgia was a very fashionable dresser, an accomplished seamstress, outspoken and highly opinionated. She was an avid reader and had an adventurous spirit. This sense of adventure took her around the world to various countries and allowed her to experience many different cultures. Georgia leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Corey (Dee-Dee) Marshall of Peoria, IL; two special granddaughters, Jordan Marshall and Parker Marshall of Peoria, IL; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 26, 2022, at Ward Chapel AME Church. The Peoria Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta will hold their Omega Omega service for Georgia at 9:30 am prior to the visitation which will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Adrian Johnson will officiate. Interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
