Mr. Harry Lee, Jr., 76, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Peoria, IL transitioned to his heavenly home at 1:10pm on Friday, April 8, 2022 at his residence. Harry was born on December 21, 1945 in Live Oak, FL to Harry, Sr. and Hattie Mae (Dixon) Lee. In 1968, he moved to Peoria, IL and met his wife, Barbara Fortune, and they were married on August 18, 1969. Harry worked for the Peoria County Health Department, and then Caterpillar, Inc as a machinist. He was raised in the St. James A.M.E. Church and graduated from Douglas High School. He attended Bethune-Cookman college in Daytona Beach, FL. Harry joined the US Air Force, served in Vietnam, and was Honorably discharged. Harry was also a 33rd degree Mason. Harry worked for Motorola Corporation in Atlanta, GA and ran his own businesses: janitorial and flooring installation. He liked southern cooking and watching sports. Harry leaves to cherish his most precious memory, two sons, Kevin Fortune of Milwaukee WI and Harry Lee, III of Tallahassee FL; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; a niece, Teresa Udell of Live Oak, FL; several great nieces and nephews; and his best friend of nearly 60 years, Alva (Patsy) Hall, of Peoria IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and two nieces. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday April 16, 2022 at Simons Mortuary with a visitation prior beginning at 10 am. Pastor Adrian Johnson of Ward Chapel A.M.E. will officiate. US Air Force Military Honors will be rendered. Harry’s final resting place will be at Lutheran Cemetery with his wife. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
