On the First day of October in the year of 1977, Thurman and Gail welcomed a second child into their home in Brooklyn, New York. A son whom they named Jason Rashaad Tate. Jason was the most beautiful baby with dimples. He had a very affectionate smile and made friends wherever he went. Jason was baptized at an early age. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School which was a school for the gifted. Jason later moved to Peoria at the age of 16 where he attended and graduated from Richwoods High School. He gained employment with Radio Shack, Komatsu, and Caterpillar, with the latest position in Custodian Services for Peoria Public Schools District 150. He met Erica Mingus who became the love of his life. His influence will forever remain in the lives of people who knew him. On November 6, 2021, at 5:33 pm., Jason transitioned into heaven. He leaves to cherish all his memories to his parents; Thurman and Gail, as we know them as “Butch” and “Cookie”. Stepfather Gerry Whitted. Son; Jayden Tate. Sister; Shanona Tate. Nephews; Shawn Williams, and Noah Harrell. Niece; Naima Harrell. Maternal Grandmother; Thelma Jordan. Great Uncle; Ted Gamble. Uncle; Eugene Pendarvis. Aunt; Yvonne Fuller. Stepbrothers; Jui Wooten, Caeser Gresham, and Jawaan Whitted. Stepsister Jovan Whitted. His Fiance’; Erica Mingus and numerous cousins and friends which all loved him dearly. Gone to heaven before him were his stepmother; Tyesia Wooten Tate. Paternal grandparents; Thurman Tate, Sr. and Pauline Tate Nance. Paternal great-grandparents; Fred Sr. and America Rudd. Maternal grandfather; Eugene Pendarvis, Sr. Maternal great-grandparents; George and Pearl Gamble, and paternal step-grandfather; Obadiah Nance. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Rev. Harry Williams will officiate.
