Service Date has been changed to Friday, April 8, 2022 Mr. Jessie James Shorty, 72, of Peoria, IL passed away at 8:35 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Jessie was born on April 16, 1949 in Inverness, MS to Frank and Signora (Wilson) Shorty. Jessie worked at Jim McComb Chevrolet as a transmission specialist. He was a hardworking free spirited, outgoing person. Jessie had no problem telling folks what was on his mind. He was very comical, strong minded and strong willed very smart and intelligent. Jessie was a straight type of guy. He enjoyed fishing in his past time. Jessie leaves to cherish his most precious memories one son, Israel Alexander; one daughter, Rasonya (Michael) Shorty-Smith; one brother, John (Dorothy) Shorty; three sisters, Daisy Shorty, Willie DuBose and Dorothy (Myron) Fox all of Peoria, IL: 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Pearlie Black and Armanda Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Sovereign Grace M.B. Church with a visitation beginning at 10 am. Pastor Perry Irvin, Jr. of Mt. Zion M.B. Church, Galesburg, IL will officiate. Jessie will be laid to rest at Historic Springdale Cemetery.
