Mr. John Willie Lindsay, Jr., age 66, transitioned from this life to his heavenly home at 4:32 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. John, affectionately called “Jr. Boy”, was born on August 25, 1955, in Peoria, IL, to John, Sr. and Jerlene (Jamison) Lindsay. He married the love of his life of 26 years, Olivia Williams, in Peoria, IL. John was a construction worker for Local 165. He was an avid bowler and has played on several bowling teams. He liked to fish and play “bags”. John loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a great supporter and encourager to all his nephews that played sports and attended all their games. John grew up attending Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ Church. He was a member of Grace Apostolic Assembly where he served on the Usher Board and the Brotherhood. John leaves to cherish his most precious memories his loving wife, Olivia Lindsay; three sons, Jontell Lindsay, Michael Gills, Jr. and Jim C. Williams, Jr. all of Peoria, IL; three daughters, Myk Lindsay-Phillips, Jordan Lindsay both of Peoria, IL, and LaKeisha Williams Lucas of Creedmoor, NC; special daughter, Trina Mitchell of Allen, TX; six brothers, Charles “Chucky” (Diane) Lindsay, Sr. of Detroit, MI, James “Jimmy” Lindsay of Peoria, IL, Clifford (Robin) Lindsay of Charlotte, NC, Gregory Lindsay, Curtis (Tara) Lindsay, Calvin (Conswaylo) Lindsay all of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Jo Ann (Walter) Young, Charlene (Moses) Pickett and Janet Smith all of Peoria, IL; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jerlene Turner, two grandchildren and one son-in-law, Travis Lucas. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, with a visitation beginning at 10 am. District Elder Henry Bolden, II will officiate and Suffragan Bishop James Ware of Grace Apostolic Assembly will bring forth the eulogy. John will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com.
