    Ms. Judith "Judy" Colleen McLeese

    January 16, 1955 - July 6, 2019

Ms. Judith “Judy” Colleen McLeese, age 64, left this world to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2019, as a result of an automobile accident. Judy was born January 16, 1955, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Richard and Audrianne McLeese. Judy loved her family dearly and enjoyed hanging out with them, and they with her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend and caretaker. She had such a beautiful smile and funny personality that will truly be missed! After earning her CNA license, Judy spent 30 plus years caring for individuals who could not care for themselves. She did this in a loving and compassionate manner. Judy dedicated her life to providing care to many individuals, sometimes holding down multiple jobs to support her family. She was a truly hard-working individual who loved to work and saddened when she could no longer do so. Judy was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, as was her father. She would watch ballgames and call her father during commercials to discuss what had transpired thus far, and to strategize about the remaining innings. Judy was heartbroken after her father's passing that they could no longer continue this bonding experience. Judy owned several items of Cardinal gear and wore them with pride (along with that big smile of hers). Judy leaves to cherish her precious memory her mother, Audrianne of Griggsville, IL; her loving children, Brandy Tomlinson (Keenan Hardy) and Jackie Hatchett (Jaimee Rexroat) all of Peoria and Juatuane Thorton of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Nancy Mitchell, Susan Taylor, Pamela McLeese, Cheryl Sotelo and Becky DeJaynes all of Bloomington, IL; and one brother, Joseph McLeese of Bloomington, IL). Also surviving are Her companion, Vernon Mabry; her grandchildren, Danicka Thomas, Jackie Hatchett, III, Myriah Hatchett, Lakeia Lewis, George Lewis, Nizhere Compton, Niveah Compton and Nevaeh Compton; also surviving is her long time partner, Harvey Thorton, Jr. Judy was preceeded in death by her father, Richard McLeese, a sister, Connie DeJaynes, a brother, Richard McLeese, and a niece, Pamela J. (PJ) McLeese. Judy’s funeral will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Gospel Experience, 3101 NE Madison Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., CDT, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. CDT. Pastor Richard K. Hammonds will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me page is available online. The family wishes to thank emergency personnel who diligently and respectfully cared for our loved one as well as individuals who reached out to express condolences. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at simonsmortuary.com.
