Ms. Katherine “Kitty” Moore, 81, of Peoria, IL received her wings at 2:36 pm on April 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Kitty joins in Heaven her parents, Moses and Thelma (Dollar) Richard; three sisters, Mary Stafford, Doris Richard and Juanita Boyd; and three brothers, Moses Jr., Kenneth Richard and James “Junior” Richard. Kitty, as she was affectionately called, was born in Derby, Virginia on January 3, 1940, and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She moved to Peoria in 1959 getting a job at WABCO (Komatsu), where she enjoyed working until she retired on January 31, 2002. Kitty was raised in the church and lived her life accordingly. Kitty tried to bless everyone who crossed her path, she was a cheerful giver and a true example of God’s Agape love. Kitty leaves to cherish her most precious memories her children Larry (Shirley) Hale, Kimberly (Wayne) Cannon, Sharon Cox, and Kim (James) Dabbs all of Peoria, IL; one sister, Jackie Hill of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren, Jerome and Barbara Hale, Wayne Willie (Tee Tee) Cannon, Gregory (Sess) Cannon, Bryan Cannon, Joshua Cannon, Bernard and Duane Cox; sixteen great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives whom adored Kitty. Kitty was proud to belong to the loving family clan of Richards and Suttles who gathered together every year for the past 64 years. Her friends, who remained close to her for many years were Ellora Lyons, Ernestine Vinson and Gladys Ivory and her Godson Lonnie Hayes. Kitty was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Jeffery Ivory Sr., where she loved to serve in the kitchen. A private funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Simons Mortuary with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Rev. Jeffrey Foreman and Rev. Valarie Stafford will officiate. Kitty will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at simonsmortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance, funerals are limited to 50 family members of the decedents, not including the staff at Simons Mortuary. The chapel can socially distance and seat no more than 50 or less people. All others will be able to flow through prior to beginning of the service. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 50 of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
