Ms. Kimberly LaShawn Parker, 48, of Peoria, IL transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Kimberly was born March 12, 1972, to Mr. James Parker and Mrs. Deborah (Stenson) Humes in Peoria, IL. She attended both, Peoria Central High School and Richwoods High School, where she would meet many of her life-long friends. Kim was affectionately called “Lil Kim” because of her small stature and larger-than-life approach. Her two sons were her pride and joy. She adored her family and took pride in being loyal and “keeping it real”. She was truly loved and adored by those who knew her. Kimberly was known for her anointed voice and comedic personality. She had a way of making anyone laugh with her sheer wittiness and her ability to tell a story like no other. She began singing at the age of four at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria, IL, where she was groomed by her mother to sing with charisma and style; and marking Kimberly for her ability to dominate the stage and captivate any audience wherever she performed. Her soulful voice has been featured on several records with local aspiring artists, always being sure to keep her roots in gospel. Kimberly was a member of Restoration Life Church in West Peoria, IL. Cherishing her beautiful memory is Anthony Carter of Peoria; one son, Cedric Parker of Peoria; four grandchildren, Jerrius Williams, Kennedy Kimbree Parker, Ayce Jordan Parker, Kadence Parker all of Peoria; two sisters, Stevia “Pookie” Humes of Orlando, FL and Tonya Lee of Indianapolis, IN; her step-father, Pastor Steve Humes, III of Pekin, IL; her grandmother, Sylvia Stenson of Peoria; three aunts, Wilma McCalister of Rockford, IL; Mrs. Royce (Fred) Danage of Peoria; and Gwendalyn Floyd of Rockford, IL; two uncles, Ronald Parker of Peoria and Gerald Floyd of Rockford, IL; five special cousins, Kelvin Parker, Michelle Danage – Sanders, Anthony (Benita) Parker all of Peoria; William Parker, Jr. of Columbia, MO; Nicholas Stenson of Rockford, IL; one niece, Ronya Lee of Indianapolis, IN; along with many other beloved relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Parker and Deborah Stenson-Humes; one son, Kendric James Parker; two paternal grandparents, Zeona Parker and Iricea Parker; two maternal grandparents, James D. Stenson, Jr. and Mamie Louise Matchem; one aunt, Deborah Parker; three uncles, William “Boss” Parker; Gregory Parker; and James D. Stenson, III A private funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Simons Mortuary Chapel with a two hours visitation beginning at 10 am. Pastor Steve Humes, III of Living Word Worship Center, Peoria, IL, will bring words of comfort. Simons Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to 10 family members of the decedents, not including the staff. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 10 of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
