Mr. Lonzo Commadore Brown, 66, of Peoria, IL passed away at 3:19 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his residence. Lonzo, also known as “Commadore” and “John Lee” was born on April 18, 1952 in Gunnison, MS to B.J. Mason and Ernestine Brown. Lonzo was a mechanic and a landscaper and enjoyed teaching young men his skills. He loved cooking his beans with smoked neckbones. Lonzo was a jokester, hard worker and loved planting gardens. Lonzo leaves to cherish his most precious memories his loving lifelong companion, Vergia Moore of Peoria; six sons, Quadrix Brown, Cammorris Bovan, Tymir Nunn, Montavius Laster, Rexton Moore and Knerel Moore all of Peoria; three daughters, Venessa Moore and Yolander (Tommie) Childs of both of Peoria and Shirley (Andrew) Hood of Boston, MA; four brothers, William Brown, Clarence (Maxine) Mason, Willie Mason and James Mason all of Peoria; four sisters, Lucille Brown of Swanson, IL, Alicestine (Willie) Carter, Silvia (Charles) Hill, Dean Mason, Barbara (Jimmy) Brooks and Sadie Banks all of Peoria; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; Jessie “ReRun” Brown; Albert Bovan; Willie Brown; Roscoe Brown; Ray Mason and two sisters; Emma Gullett and Elizabeth Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Pastor Alvin Riley, Sr. will officiate.
