Mr. Marcus Cortez Thomas, 41, of Peoria, IL passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Marcus was born on September 12, 1980 in Peoria, IL to Debra Denise (Fisher) Foster. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of 12, baptized at Agape Baptist Church. Marcus was a 1998 graduate of Peoria Central High School where he was a star basketball player. He worked several jobs which included the Toyota Manufacturing Plant, Caterpillar and OSF St. Francis Medical Center. In his spare time, Marcus enjoyed many different genres of music; playing and watching sports, especially basketball of course; and spending quality time with family and friends. Marcus was a comedian; he loved making people laugh. Marcus leaves to cherish his most precious memory his loving and devoted mother, Debra (the Rev. Duane, Sr.) Fisher of Peoria, IL; his biological father, Richard (Cheryl) Thomas of Peoria, IL; his loving and devoted special friend and soul mate, Jessica Cox of Morton, IL; his children, Micah Thomas of Boca Raton, FL, Khalise Thomas of Peoria, IL and Addison Cox of Monmouth, IL; his grandmothers, Mrs. Ruth Scott and Mrs. Geraldine Thomas both of Peoria, IL; 5 brothers, Shawn Thomas, Christopher Suttle, Davett Fisher, Sr., and Duane Fisher, II all of Peoria, IL and Demir Fisher of Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Nasla Fisher of Peoria, IL; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Mr. Hubert Scott, Sr., and Mr. James Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church with a visitation beginning at 11 am. Rev. William Preston, Pastor of City on a Hill Church, will officiate. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at simonsmortuary.com.
