Mrs. Marjorie Mae Davis, 69, of Peoria, IL transitioned from this life to her heavenly home at 5:15 am on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Peoria Heights, IL. Marjorie was born on February 28, 1952 in Peoria, Illinois to Walker and Betty (Porch) Davies. She married James Henry Davis on July 29, 1983 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2014. Marjorie was kind hearted. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch movies and dvds. She also loved to draw, paint, reupholster furniture and back in the day she loved to play a little volleyball. Marjorie was a faithful and long-time member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the choir and was a member of the usher board. Marjorie leaves to cherish her most precious memories her loving and devoted family which includes her children, Linda Davis of Peoria, IL, Sheldon Davis of Lombard, IL and Henry Blackwell of Quincy, IL; two brothers, Walker Davis of St. Paul, MN and Joseph (Vickie) Davis of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Debra Watson of Long Beach, CA, Toni Session of Long Beach, CA and Betty Lou Henley of Peoria, IL; eight grandchildren, Brendon, Alexis, Christian, Henry, Cory, Jason, Chris and Austin; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. A Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at St. Paul Baptist Church. There will be no visitation. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard will officiate. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery with her Husband, James. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. The funeral instructions for St. Paul Baptist Church are as follows: The funeral will be held for a maximum of one hour There will be a maximum of 125 guests able to attend (this includes the family contact as well as direct family members) Everyone over the age of 24 months will be required to pre-register (the family contact person has registration information) Everyone must wear a mask throughout the entire funeral service Everyone will be subject to a temperature scan at check-in All attending the service MUST be registered the night prior to the service Doors open 30 minutes prior to the funeral service for check-in To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
