Mrs. Mattie L. Wallace, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 surrounded by her Loving family by her side. Mattie was born on September 14, 1930 in Oakland, Mississippi. She was the only child to Warren Wilks and Leora Gaines. She later married Lee Roy Wallace Sr. on January 29, 1949 in Peoria, IL. To this union they had five children: Odessa, Lee Roy Jr., Larry, Gary and Brenda. Mattie professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a virtuous woman and active member of Anderson Memorial (COGIC) for many years and is currently at Riverside Community Church in Peoria. She was a great cook and loved reading her Bible, praying for you and others, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife , mother, and friend to others. She loved her flower garden and spending money wisely. Mattie leaves to cherish her most precious memories, her Loving children, Lee Roy (Patricia) Wallace Jr. of Peoria, Larry G. (Patricia) Wallace of Austell, Ga, Brenda (Ronald) Henderson of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews other family and friends. Mattie was proceeded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Wallace Sr.; one sister, Lilly Mae Jones; one daughter, Odessa Roberts and one son, Gary "Gada" Wallace. A Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, October 8, 2021 at Gospel Experience Church, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. Pastor Richard Hammonds will officiate. Mattie will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at simonsmortuary.com.
