Ms. Maya Shanice Warr, 19, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Kirksville, MO. Maya was born June 5, 1998, in Peoria, IL, to Dennis M. and Felicia (Mack) Warr, Sr. She attended parochial and public schools in Peoria and graduated from Richwoods High School with honors in the International Baccalaureate program in 2016. At the time of her death, Maya was in her sophomore year at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She was majoring in biology/pre-med with a minor in Spanish. Maya’s favorite colors were blue, lavender and black. She was very intelligent and loved playing the flute and piano. She also enjoyed reading, writing poetry, meditating spiritually, dabbling into cosmetics, and eating organic foods. From time to time she created special products using her skills from her hobby of origami. Overall, Maya was a beautiful, soft-spoken person who loved her family; however, according to her mom, Maya was feisty as ever if she needed to prove her point. Nevertheless, she was a much-loved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt and friend. Her sister, Nikki, can attest to her being a good auntie, because she babysat for Nikki often.
