    Ms. Melissa Jones

    April 27, 1972 - May 28, 2021

Ms. Melissa Jones, 49, of Peoria, IL transitioned to her heavenly home at 8:15 am on Friday, May 28, 2021 at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center. Melissa was born in Greenwood, MS to Chester Lee, Sr., and Lou Emma (Boles) Jones. She was a certified nurse’s assistant for years; her most recent job was with the local American Red Cross. Melissa was truly adored by her family and friends. She was the life of the party and loved to dance. Melissa had a passion for interior design and decorating…she could really hook up a room. Melissa leaves to cherish her most precious memories her loving father, Chester, Sr., (Crystal) Jones of Peoria, IL; daughter, Marissa Jones of Bloomington, IL; one son, Eric Mosley, Jr., of Urbana, IL; three sisters, Rosdina Jones, Shewona Jones and Chestina Jones all of Peoria, IL; three brothers, Cecil Boles of Coila, MS, Chester Jones, Jr., of Peoria, IL and T.J. (Brit) Jones of Grass Lake, MI. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lou Emma Jones. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Simons Mortuary with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 9 am. Pastor Patrick Randall, of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, will bring words of comfort to the family. Melissa will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. The service will be live streamed on Simons Mortuary's Website or Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Simons-Mortuary-232095303487150 promptly AT THE TIME OF THE SERVICE. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance, funerals are limited to 50 family members of the decedents, not including the staff at Simons Mortuary. The chapel can socially distance and seat no more than 50 or less people. All others will be able to flow through prior to beginning of the service. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 50 of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
