Mr. Mozell Wallace

Mr. Mozell Wallace, 94, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully at 4:25 am, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Mozell was born on August 10, 1922 in Chambers, MS to Willie and Carrie (Brown) Wallace. Mozell was a farmer in Mississippi before he moved to Peoria many years ago. Mozell loved working on cars, building things and fishing. He was a comedian and loved telling jokes. He was a World War II US Army Veteran. He served our country honorably in New Guinea and during the Southern Philippines’ Liberation. He received a Bronze Star and the WWII Victory Medal. Mozell had an awesome memory. He could remember every family member’s birthday. His famous saying was “Oh Boy”. Mozell met and married the love of his life, Alma Conwell and to that union six children were born. Alma preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Olevia (the Rev. Carl) Hill of Peoria; two sons, Mosell (Jean) Wallace of Kinston, NC and Sylvester (Julia) Wallace of Memphis, TN; 26 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and a host of great great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mozell is also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bertha Gale Wallace and two sons, Maurice Wallace and Harry Wallace. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with a visitation at 10 am. Host Pastor, Pastor Chuck Brown. Rev. Dr. Mark McConnell will officiate.
