Mr. Nathan Edward Knox, 20, of Peoria, IL transitioned from this life to his heavenly home at 11:30 pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Jackson North Medical Center, North Miami Beach, Florida. Nate was born on January 17, 2001 in Peoria, IL to Donald and Shalonda (McGruder) Knox. Nate was educated in Peoria, IL District 150 Schools, Keller and Lindbergh, graduating from Richwoods High School with honors in 2019. Nate was a student at Illinois Central College, East Peoria studying Business Administration and planned to attend Illinois State University next year to earn is bachelor’s degree. Nate also earned the prestigious Eagle Scout Award from Boy Scouts of America. At an early age Nate showed a lot of aptitude and interest in numbers, math, science, electronics and engineering. He would take things apart and put them back together to see how they worked often modifying them. Throughout the years Nate participated in many extra-curricular activities including Boy Scouts, Destination Imagination, robotics, and NSBE. He played multiple sports including baseball, soccer, and wrestling. His main sport was football, he played for Richwoods as part of the JFL and High School programs. Nate loved to play video games, watch movies and follow social media. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed having fun at events where he was always the life of the party with his contagious laugh, beautiful smile and funny hand gestures. You knew it was going to be a good night if he rubbed his hands together in his special way and did his dance. Nate was known to be a protector, peacemaker, networker and future entrepreneur. Nathan leaves to cherish his most precious memories his parents, Donald and Shalonda Knox of Peoria, IL; one sister, Mariah McCarther of Chicago, IL; maternal grandparents, Jeanette Harris and Mark King both of Peoria, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Donald Knox, Sr., and Casslene Knox; Maternal Great Grandmother Lavada Hamilton and Great Aunts Deborah Johnson and Gwen Kelly. Funeral services for Nathan will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. Paul Baptist Church. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard will officiate. Nathan will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral instructions for attendance at St. Paul Baptist Church are as follows: *Social distancing will be observed. *The funeral will be held for a maximum of one hour. *Everyone must wear a mask throughout the entire funeral service. *Doors open 1 hour prior to the funeral service to allow time for the family and friends to be seated.
