Mr. Pete Hardy, 82, of Hazelcrest, IL; formerly of Peoria, IL passed away at 11:05 am, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at South Suburban Rehabilitation Center in Homewood, IL. Hardy, as he was affectionately known, was born on July 17, 1939 in Clarksdale, MS, to proud parents Sampson, Sr., and Jeannie (Brackett) Hardy. Hardy was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, honorably serving his country from July, 23, 1959 to July 23, 1962. Hardy leaves to cherish his most precious memories two loving and devoted daughters, Zipporah (LaMarr, Sr.) Randle of Los Angeles, CA and LaEisha Meaderds of Peoria, IL; a loving god daughter, Bernetta King-Harris of Peoria; four loving sisters, Lynette Hardy-Cunningham, of Peoria, IL, Deborah (Christian) Hardy-Nze of South Holland, IL, Avon (Curtis) Hinkle of Peoria, IL and Evon Hardy-Dixon of Peoria, IL; one loving brother, Moses Edward Hardy of Detroit, MI; his sister-in-Law, Linda Hardy of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Robert LaMarr Randle, Jr., Zion Franklin, Zariah Franklin, Nala Davis and Sergio Maalik McClain; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara L. King and Laura Yvonne Hardy; and five brothers, Cleveland Hardy, Sampson “Jimmie” Hardy, Jr., Willie “Billie” Hardy, Elijah “Punch” Hardy and Gene Edward Hardy. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 9 am. The Host Pastor is Rev. Alvin Riley, Sr. Mr. Virgil Marshall, Deacon at New Cornerstone Baptist Church, will bring words of comfort. Hardy will be laid to rest on Soldier Hill at Historic Springdale Cemetery. The US Army and the American Legion Post 2 will bring Military Honors. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance, funerals are limited to 55 family members of the decedents, not including the staff at Simons Mortuary.
