Ms. Suzane Ward Parker, 67, of Concord, NC; formerly of Peoria, Illinois was born August 10, 1952 to the late Adlean (Sledge) Ward and George Edward Ward, Sr. The former Senior Human Resource Manager, for International Business Machines/IBM, Vice President of Human Resources for Prudential, and Human Resource Director for Remington Hotels died Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Suzane was educated in the Peoria Public School District and was a graduate of Richwoods High School. She was always proud to be a Richwoods Knight and as an exceptional tennis player, she stood out as a top player who brought home many proud trophies. Later, she went on to higher education earning her Bachelor’s in Arts History in Education from Western Illinois University. In addition, she later earned her Master's Degree in Business Administration from New York Institute of Technology, Long Island, New York. After many rewarding years in Human Resources, in 2005, Suzane decided to leave corporate and start her own consulting group, DJC Group. The primary purpose was to provide strategic direction; marketing and sales support for client relationships and manage specific engagements, prepare requests for proposals, managing schedules and deliverables for her clients. During this same timeframe, she became an expert with researching, buying and selling high-end antiques and collectibles. Her love and interest for antiques grew into a successful business. This also developed a strong partnership with Sotheby's of New York; where her own collection grew very extensively. She was a great supporter of several different organizations over the years. Suzane made it a point to be actively involved with community causes that made a difference; such as The National Black Chamber of Commerce, National Bridge Alliance, Great Expectations for Teens, Society of Human Resource Management International Institute and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Due to her extensive history background, her love of geography, and her curiosity for new and exciting places, she was blessed to travel the world to places like the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Cuba Venezuela, Brazil, West Africa, China, France, and most of the Caribbean. Wherever she traveled, she was always very comfortable with all diverse groups people. Learning about different cultures and countries brought her such joy. When she wasn’t traveling the world, Suzane also had additional hobbies she enjoyed, which included gourmet cooking, gardening, spending time with friends and family, reading, listening to Aretha Franklin and watching reality shows. Her favorite show was 90 Day Fiancé. She would find so much humor watching that show. On August 25, 1973, she married Ronald Parker and from that union, they had their loving son Brandon Parker. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving father, George E. Ward, Sr., of Peoria Heights; three brothers, George Ward, Jr., and Brian (Denaria)Ward both of Peoria and Gregory Ward of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Diane Irving of Lewisville, TX and Robin (Clifford) Lindsay of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. As the States begin re-opening in response to the Global Coronavirus Pandemic, some people are returning to their previous normal living standards. Unfortunately, we are now in our new normal as unreal and sometimes uncomfortable as the socially distancing and continuous use of protective masks may feel. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). Thanks in advance for your cooperation! *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible. The chapel can socially distance and seat a limit of 50 or less people. All others will be able to flow through and view prior to beginning the Celebration of Life Ceremony.
