Mr. Terry Glen Slaughter, Sr., age 66, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his residence in Peoria, IL. Terry was born on October 23, 1955 in Peoria, IL, to Roosevelt and Pecora (Slaughter) Tillman. Terry worked at Peoria Journal Star Newspaper as a press operator for many years. He was a 1976 Richwood High School graduate where he was a member of the basketball team. Terry was a United States Navy Veteran enlisting right after graduating from high school. He served 8 years. He liked to watch the world news to keep up with what was going on in the world. Terry was the family comedian. He enjoyed life and liked to socialize with family and friends. Terry always attended his grandchildren’s school functions. He enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, playing Dominos and listening to music. Terry leaves to cherish his most precious memories his son, Terry (Mary) Slaughter, Jr. of Beaumont, TX; two daughters, Terri Slaughter of Washington, DC and Te’Lesha Slaughter of Peoria, IL; one brother, Cecil Slaughter of Peoria, IL; one sister, Sandra Slaughter of Peoria, IL; a special niece and nephew that were like his own children, Patricia Slaughter and Matthew Slaughter; God Daughter, Yashica (Robert) Carr; four grandchildren, Ricky Yates, Terry Slaughter, III, Terryon Slaughter and Za’Niya Slaughter and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Terry is preceded in death by his parents and his twin brothers, Larry and David Slaughter. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 11 am at Simons Mortuary Chapel, with a gathering beginning at 10:30 am. Bishop John Wright of Liberty United Loved Ministries will officiate. Navy Military Honors will be rendered. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing and attendance limits will be observed. In accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Funerals are limited to no more than 50% of the capacity of the sanctuary or less. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services.
