Fax to (612)521-8461 or email to [email protected]**** Mr. Walter Lee Byrd Sr. Age 77, formerly of Peoria, who resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at 9:42 AM on Monday April 13, 2020, He was baptized in Christ at a later age in life. He was born on May 12, 1942 to James Albert Caver Jr. and Johnnie Mae Hunter. Walter worked as a machine operator. He enjoyed listening to rhythm & blues, dancing, playing cards & dominoes. Walter enjoying socializing with family and friends especially at family reunion celebrations. Walter also enjoyed fishing and had a great love for all animals he had a beloved German Shepard dog (Spencer). Walter owned two horses that he enjoyed riding with his grandchildren. He loved to watch western movies. His favorite attire was to dress in suits, with cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Family too Walter is not just an important, thing it was everything and more. He survived by his loving wife Ella F. Byrd, sons Michael Worley (Tanya) of Peoria, IL, Walter T. Byrd Jr. and Joseph E. Byrd of Minneapolis, MN, daughters Marvelous D. Byrd- Williams of Aurora, CO, Louvinia J. Byrd of Minneapolis, MN, and nine grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Terry L Hunter (Lynn), Robert E. Hunter (Betty), sister Sadie Mae Byrd Smith, Uncle Willie Kimbrough of Peoria IL, Aunt Creola Faulkner of Englewood California, Aunt Ann F. Davidson of Houston, TX, and a host of many other relatives and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his father James Albert Caver Jr., Mother Johnnie Mae Hunter, stepfather Richard Hunter Sr., brothers Richard L. Hunter Jr., Michael E. Hunter, Jerry L. Hunter, Gregory J. Hunter and son-in-law Welton Ray Williams. Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 am on Saturday June 27, 2020 at Estes Funeral Chapel, 2201 Plymouth Ave N. Minneapolis, MN 55411 (612) 521-6744 or Fax to (612)521-8461 or email to [email protected] Walter will be laid to rest at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis MN. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Estes Funeral Chapel.
