Ms. Wilma Jean Scott, 75, of Peoria, IL passed away at 11:51 pm on Thursday November 12, 2020 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital, Peoria, IL. Wilma was born on December 2, 1944 in Chidester, Arkansas to Earnest and Lena (McDonald) Alexander. Wilma was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and then upon graduation attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for two years. She later moved to Peoria in 1963. Wilma worked at Caterpillar, Inc., as a Line Worker where she retired after 37 years of service. Wilma worked for Peoria School District 150 as the lunch attendant. She loved to cook and bake and was a Fashion Diva. Wilma was a faithful member of Peoria Friendship Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she was very active. She was past President of the Usher Board and was also a member of the United Usher Board. Wilma leaves to cherish her most precious memories one son, Andre (Joniece) Scott of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Demetra Alexander and Donna Scott both of Peoria, IL; two brothers, Michael Sims and Ronald Alexander both of Peoria, IL; four sisters, Marvene White, Doris Alexander, Carolyn Rice and Cynthia (Abe) Scott all of Peoria, IL, 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Danielle Alexander, her brother, James Alexander, her sister, Gloria Anderson and her niece, Tiffany Anderson. A private funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Morning Glory Ministries Church with a visitation beginning at 9 am. Pastor Marlon Young, Sr., the Host Pastor, will officiate. Rev. Dr. Claude Russell, Jr., Pastor of Peoria Friendship Baptist Church, will bring words of comfort. Wilma will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at SimonsMortuary.com. To be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. Funerals are limited to no more than 10 of the decedent’s immediate family members. *In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them). *It is our responsibility as a Funeral Directors, to do everything we can to advise families in order to honor our beloved Families and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
