Mr. Adolf Koehler

Mr. Adolf Koehler, 73, of Glasford, IL transitioned to his heavenly home at 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Adolf was born on October 11, 1949 in Crailsheim, Germany to Frieda Mina (Schurlein) Koehler and Adolf Georg Koehler. Adolf always had a spirit of adventure, so he moved to America in 1976 where his 3 sisters lived. He found his bride, the love of his life, Patricia Anne (Schmeilski) Haberlin and they married in Peoria, IL on September 11, 1986. They shared a beautiful and adventurous life together full of love, travel and karaoke. Prior to moving to America, Adolf owned a restaurant in Germany where he cultivated his skill for cooking all types of cuisines. He was a former chef at the Jumer’s Castle Lodge on Western Avenue many years ago. He was a chef extraordinaire. Adolf was multitalented. He was a much sought after home improvement independent contractor who was the best in Peoria and surrounding counties. He was a one-man contractor, but often used his sons Joe and David to help. Adolf loved to have fun and enjoy life. They loved to dance and follow their lifelong friend Dave Scott "The One-Man Band". After Pat retired from Bradley University, she and Adolf decided to become “Snow Birds”. They made their 2nd home Barefoot Bay in Sebastian, Florida. Retired as well, Adolf pursued his passion for adventure and enjoyed viewing the Florida beaches and coastlines from the air as a co-pilot in a power parachute. He and Pat made lots of new friends. They especially loved following their dear friend Dougie “The Karaoke Guy from Scotland” owner of Good Times Entertainment. Adolf was fearless and lived life to the fullest. Everyone who knew him, loved him dearly. Adolf you will truly be missed! Adolf leaves to cherish his most precious memories including his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Patricia Anne Koehler of Glasford, IL; two sons, Joe (Rachel) Haberlin of Farmington, IL and David (Sky) Koehler of Glasford, IL; the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Ruby Haberlin of Farmington, IL; a sister, Monica Koehler of Missouri and many friends in Central Illinois and Florida who love and adore him. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Hanne Lore Schmidt and a brother, Ketzi Koehler. A Celebration of life will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Farmington Moose Lodge 1571, 1001 E. Fort St., Farmington, IL 61531. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
